Vietnamese expats in Canada celebrate Tet in world's top concert hall

(VNF) - Hundreds of Vietnamese expatriates in Canada recently held a celebration for traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) in one of the world's best concert venues, George Weston Recital Hall (Toronto, Ontario province.

The event was held on January 27 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada, in coordination with the Canada -Vietnam Society and the State Committee for overseas Vietnamese affairs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hoa recalled significant events in bilateral relations in 2017, including the official visits to Vietnam by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne, as well as various mutual visits of officials and local authorities from the two countries.

According to the diplomat, overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the nation. The country will create all favourable conditions for Vietnamese expatriates, including those in Cadana, to return home and invest in Vietnam, thus contributing to the home country's development.

Earlier, on January 25, another Tet celebration was held in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. (source: VNA)

The celebration brought to participants the Lunar New Year atmosphere, via arts performance by artists from the Youth (Tuoi tre) Theatre and various homeland's Tet traditional cuisines.
