Vietnamese community in Laos raises fund for flood victims in homeland

(VNF) – The Vietnamese overseas community in Laos has collected over USD 6,800 to support victims of floods in homeland.

By the end of the morning of November 25, the Vietnamese embassy, overseas Vietnamese in Vientiane, representing agencies of Vietnam in Laos and Vietnamese enterprises working in the country have raised fund of USD 6,830 for victims of Damrey storm (12th storm) in home country.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, the fundraising held by the Embassy aims to relief the post-disaster burdens people in affected areas have been dealing with.

This has been the third donation campaign launched by the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos in 2017 (source: VOV)

The cash will be transfered to the recipients via the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee, he said.

The last day of the fundraising programme is scheduled on December 1.

Since the beginning of 2017, this has been the third time the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos has raised fund for those who are affected by natural disasters in homeland.

Storm Damrey, or the 12th storm, hit the South Central and Central Highland of Vietnam in early November. It caused serious destruction in the country, leaving 100 killed, 19 missing, 100,000 unroofed and collapsed houses. A vast area of agricultural land were inundated./.
