Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria raise fund for flood victims in homeland

(VNF) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria on November 22 gathered for a fundraising event to support people affected by storm Damrey in the Central and Central Highland region.

Each officer, staff of the embassy participated in the fundraising by donating their one-day salary.

In addition, the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria's fund also received an amount of € 200 from family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Noi, an overseas Vietnamese living in Algiers city.

According to Vietnamese ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru, the donation is a meaningful activity of the Vietnamese community who are living and working in the African country, with the aim of sharing the burden disaster-affected people are coping with, helping them quickly restore their work, stabilize livelihood.

According to the ambassador, all of the donated cash will be transfered directly to responsible agency to  deliver to the recipients.

Storm Damrey, or the 12th storm, hit the South Central and Central Highland of Vietnam in early November. It caused serious destruction in the country, leaving 29 killed, 29 missing. About 4,500 hectares of agricultural land were inundated; 1,500 marine cages, used for fishing were swept away, hundreds of vessels were sunked./.
