Mr. Dung said environmental protection is a pressing global issue and a long-term process that requires global cooperation and determination. Vietnam aims at green and environment-friendly growth, involving both scientists and the private sector, Dung said. He detailed the Government’s use of socio-economic policies and legal administration to preserve the environment, along with the development of renewable energy and science and technology, the improvement of human resources and awareness in the field.

Deputy PM Dung called for UN assistance for Vietnam in climate change response, forest protection, and green house emissions reduction.

Mr. Solheim said the UN Environment Program will continue to accompany all nations, including Vietnam, in environmental protection. During his visit to Việt Nam, Solheim also visited the Cúc Phương National Park and recognised Việt Nam’s efforts in preserving rare animals./.
