Vietnam to build world’s tallest television tower

(VNF) - The Vietnam Television (VTV) and two partners, State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and GRG Group, have set up a Joint Stock company to build a highest of its kind in the world.

Apart from the main tower, the 14.1ha-project also includes buildings, offices, hotel, services, entertainment and events hosting sections.

Earlier, in late 2014, the Prime Minister approved the VTV plan, and asked the Hanoi city People’s Committee to work with the Ministry of Construction and VTV for further planning as guidance by the current Laws.

The 636 meters-TV tower project, is located in the West Lake West urban area (Co Nhue ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi), with a total capital of around USD1.3-1.5 billion, of which USD900 million is for the tower alone.

Investors said they need two years for investment preparation and six years for construction. The tower is scheduled for operation from 2021, with a 15 year refunding period after its operational.

Investors have been contacted to famous Japan’s Nikken Sekkei Consulting Ltd for two feasible plans, in which the second plan has a construction density of 40-50%, a much higher than the first plan (35-40%), and a total 600,000 square meters luxury apartment in compared with 300,000 square meters in the first plan, thus doubling the ratio of land use from 3.76 to 6.6.

They are also seeking some preferential investment mechanisms for the project from the relevant agencies.

As scheduled, in the first quarter of 2016, investors will appoint a principal contractor and sign a consulting contract for feasible plans.

World-wide, television towers have become national symbols, such as Eiffel Tower in France, Canada’s CN Tower, Canton Tower in China, and current world’s tallest Sky Tree in Japan (634 meter in height)./.
