Vietnam secures 6 medals at International Science Olympiads

(VNF) - According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, all of the six contestants representing Vietnam in the 14th International Science Olympiads in the Netherlands have brought home medals.

Three silver medals went to Luong Hien Nga and Do Cao Minh Chau (Hanoi-Amsterdam High School) and Nguyen Trong Khai  (Nguyen Hue High School), while three bronze medalists were Nguyen Duc Hieu, Le Hoang Minh and Tran Khanh Vy from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School. 

Prior to the Olympiad, the six Vietnamese students were shortlisted from two qualification rounds hosted by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

The 14th International Science Olympiad, held from December 2nd to 15th in the Netherlands, drew the participation of 279 students from 50 countries and territories.

This year, the Olympiad's theme is ‘water and sustainability’, requiring students to resolve practical issues in water processing, climate change and earth protection.The contestants competed in three contests: a multiple choice quiz, theory and practice in physics, chemistry and biology.

This is the eighth consecutive year that Vietnam has sent students to compete at the event. At last year’s Olympiads, Vietnam earned two gold medals, two silvers, and two bronzes./.
