Vietnam becomes International Hydrographic Organization member

The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in Monaco on September 2nd organised a flag raising ceremony for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam  to mark Vietnam’s official joining of the organization as its 84th member.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the ceremony saw the attendance of Admiral Pham Xuan Diep, Deputy Commander of Navy Force and chief executive director of the Vietnamese Hydrographic Office; representatives from the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; IHO President Robert Ward, Director of the Monaco Hydrographic Bureau, together with high-ranking officials from the IHO in Monaco.

Vietnam’s membership of the IHO aims to realise the Party and State guideline on increased international integration and represents a new step on the development of the modern history of the Vietnamese navy force and the hydrographic sector.

With its accession to the IHO, Vietnam commits to realise fully the organization’s regulations, confirming that it will do its utmost to make active and responsible contributions to ensure maritime security and safety in the region and in the world; and be available  to IHO member countries as a trusted friend and partner as well as a responsible member of the international community./.
