Vietnam, Bulgaria to foster justice ties

(VNF) - Fostering the Vietnam-Bulgaria ties in justice and law was an emphasis in the meeting between Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Uong Chu Luu and Bulgarian Minister of Justice, Tsetska Tsacheva.

In his meeting with Bulgarian Minister of Justice, Tsetska Tsacheva on April 27, the Vietnamese NA Vice Chairman hailed the significant contributions of Tsacheva, who is a former leader of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, in the development of the Vietnam-Bulgaria relations, and suggested the minister to continue helping reinforce the bilateral partnership, particularly in the field of law and justice.

According to the Vice Chairman, the National Assembly of Vietnam has promulgated many laws related to the organization and operation of the judicial system. However, Vietnam still needs to learn more from the experiences of other countries, including Bulgaria, he noted.

The Bulgarian Minister, Tsacheva, for her part, said that Bulgaria has carried out a judicial reform strategy since 2015, aiming to build a law-governed State and affirmed her nation's willingness to share its experience with Vietnam in managing the prison system, executing criminal verdicts, providing judicial support and protection, and observing the rights of prisoners.

Earlier the same day, the Vietnamese official met with Ddannail Kirilov, Chairman of the Justice Committee of the Bulgarian National Assembly. The two sides debated the amendment of the penal code and laws related to combating corruption.

On April 26, in a meeting with the Speaker of Bulgaria's National Assembly, Tsveta Karayancheva, the Vietnamese NA Vice Chairman mentioned the prospects for two countries to exchange experiences in tuning legal documents and the judiciary, building the rule-of-law State and anti-corruption law.

NA Vice Chairman Luu is scheduled to leave Bulgaria on April 29, and visit Macedonia from April 30-May 1 and Romania from May 2-5./.
