Chairwoman of the friendship association Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong extended greetings to U.S. citizens on the day, while noting the strong relations between Vietnam and the U.S.

As Vietnam’s economic, cultural, scientific and technological hub, HCM City has been fostering cooperation with partners from the U.S., reaping encouraging results in trade, investment, education, healthcare and more, the city’s official stressed.

The association has contributed to the thriving relations with various activities to popularise the U.S. in Vietnam. It has also held art exchanges and charitable activities.

Last year, the association held a conference on liberal education and traditional concerts, she said.

On the occasion, the association presented 89 scholarships totalling VND 110 million (USD 4,730) to disadvantaged students in the city./.
