Seminar highlights late Party leader

A scientific seminar in commemoration of the 110th birthday anniversary of late Party leader Nguyen Duc Canh took place in Thai Binh province on February 1.

Canh was born on February 2, 1908, in Diem Dien village, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh. After enlightened by the revolutionary ideology, he joined various patriotic movements, including the Vietnam Youth Revolution Association, which was a turning point in his revolutionary life.

At the seminar

In March 1929, at House No.5D, Ham Long street, Hanoi, Canh was among eight members to form the first Communist Party Cell in Vietnam. He was then elected to be a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Indochina Communist Party.

In April 1931, he was captured by the French colonialists. Though he was tortured by the invaders, he did not reveal any secrets of the Party. He was sentenced to death by the French colonialists and was executed in 1932.

During the workshop, delegates recalled the revolutionary life of Canh who devoted his whole life for the Party and people, agreed that Canh was a noble example and outstanding leader of the Party and Vietnamese revolutionary cause, contributing to the country’s freedom and independence./.
