Romania’s 99th Great Union Day observed in Hanoi

(VNF) - The Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 25th to mark Romania’s 99th Great Union Day (December 1st, 1918-2017).

The Association’s President Tong Van Nga congratulated Romanian people on their great achievements over the past years, while thanking for their support, adding that the people of Vietnam always keep in their mind the support that Romanian people have given to Vietnam during the past struggle for national independence and reunification as well as current national construction and development.

This year also marks the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association. Over the past  years, the people's diplomacy has been carried out under the guidance of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and with the principle of "drink water, remember the source" of members who have studied and worked in Romania, the Association has had many diverse activities as a bridge for friendship between the two peoples: cooperating with the Embassy of Romania in Hanoi; participating in the delegation at all levels, sectors of Romania; organising activities during the Romanian National Day; organizing the delegation to visit the school, teachers, old friends; holding activities to celebrate 45 years, 50 years, etc., of Vietnamese students studying in Romania, etc.

With these activities, "The Association is really a bridge between peoples of Vietnam and Romania "as judged by the two Prime Ministers in the joint statement in July 2016.

For his part, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Valeriu Arteni affirmed that the two countries’ traditional friendship is growing well.

Speaking of the role played by the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, he said that the Association is a bridge which has helped boost mutual understanding between the two peoples and step up cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.

Romanian people were delighted by Vietnam’s socio-economic accomplishments, building a strong and prosperous country and strengthening their international political position. With many similarities in history and culture, the two people have come closer together. He is pleased to see the continuous development in the good tradition and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries./.
