Promoting Vietnam's image through World Peace Council’s Conference

(VNF) - On August 8th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (VPDF) had a working session with Mr. Iraklis Tsavdaridis, Executive Secretary of the World Peace Council (WPC) in Hanoi.

Mr. Iraklis said the purpose of the visit was to discuss the necessary preparation and planning for the WPC’s Executive Committee Conference and the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution in Vietnam from November 23rd to 25th.

During his trip, he worked with Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh to agree on a number of basic contents of preparation plan for the conference; meeting Mr. Don Tuan Phong, Vice President in-charge cum Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) as well as leaders of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Foreign Relations and the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA).  All the meetings have brought good results, he said.

At the meeting, on behalf of WPC, Mr. Iraklis invited Ms. Binh to attend the WPC’s Executive Committee Conference.

The event will be attended by about 45 participants including international friends, leaders and members of WPC Executive Committee from all continents. This will be an opportunity for the delegation members and Vietnam exchange information about their respective countries and organizations, matters of mutual concern, and share experience in contribution to the defence of peace, sustainable development and social equality from the perspectives of people’s organizations.

During the meeting, ideas and initiatives were discussed as orientations for promoting peace movement, regional and world security.

Mr. Iraklis said that WPC appreciated the contributions and support of Vietnam to the peace movement of the world's people in general and the Council in particular.

Thanks to Mr. Iraklis and WPC's invitation, Ms. Binh said she would happy to attend the conference. At the same time, she expressed her thanks to WPC and its members for their great affection and support for the Vietnamese people in the past time. She hoped WPC would continue to support Vietnam in development, poverty reduction and disease prevention./.
