Phu Quoc among five up-and-coming Asia-Pacific destinations to visit this fall

Phu Quoc island in Vietnam's Mekong Delta Kien Giang province has been ranked fourth among the top five up-and-coming Asia-Pacific destinations to visit this fall, according to CNN.

Located on the Vienam-Cambodia-Thailand marine economic corridor, Phu Quoc is dubbed the “pearl” island.

“If you’re dreaming of a beach getaway in Asia this fall, Phu Quoc in Vietnam should be a top contender. It's is just an hour from Ho Chi Minh City and offers a 30-day visa exemption policy for all foreign passports, CNN wrote.

CNN advises travelers that there are plenty to do aside from lounging and snorkeling around Ong Lang beach in Phu Quoc. The Phu Quoc Prison museum offers a peek into the island’s dark history while the Phu Quoc National Park and Suoi Tranh Waterfall will spoil nature lovers.

As for the food, this island is famous for its fish sauce, so don’t miss every chance to try it which shouldn’t be hard, seeing as it’s a main ingredient of most Vietnamese dishes.

Chengdu (China) tops CNN's picks, followed by Fukuoka (Japan), Jeju (South Korea), Phu Quoc island (Vietnam), and Perth (Australia).

Earlier, Bai Dai (Long beach) in Phu Quoc island has been ranked 20th among the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world, according to a list released by Usnews, a U.S. media company.

Phu Quoc island is renowned for its beaches and stunning scenery. Long Beach in particular features strikingly soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. This stretch of sand is also home to numerous resorts, most of which feature huge pools and rooms geared toward families.

The Sun Group invested cable car system is the world’s longest sea cable car route.

This February, the world’s longest sea cable car route was put into operation in An Thoi town, Phu Quoc island district.

Invested by Sun Group, a prominent real estate developer in Vietnam, the route has the length of nearly 8 km, with the one end being An Thoi town and the other being Hon Thom island, the largest in the An Thoi island cluster to the south in Phu Quoc island district.

The system has 70 cars capable of carrying 30 passengers each and uses the three-rope cable car technology that is the most modern and safest in the world.

The system and the Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park officially opened to tourists on February 14.

In 2017, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 361,500 international visitors, up 72 per cent from a year earlier, according to Kien Giang province's Department of Tourism./.
