Overseas Vietnamese teachers pay tribute to General Giap

81 former Vietnamese teachers in Thailan recently paid tribute to the grave site of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua, Quang Binh, as the beginning of their visit to homeland in 2018.

The delegates have contributed greatly to the preservation of homeland’s language in overseas, especially during the hardest period (1945-1989). In order to thank the delegates for their dedication, since 2016, the State Commitee for Overseas Vietnamese affairs has organized annual visiting trip for them to homeland.
According to Nguyen Thi Vinh, a former teacher in Sakon Nakhon, overseas Vietnamese in Thailand are very proud of President Ho and General Giap. In their hearts, the two leaders are brilliant symbols of the nation.

One of the distinguished Vietnamese in Thailand, Head of the delegation, Nguyen Van An said: “Even though we have visited Vietnam for many time, this year, I am still amazed at the change of the country, which is thriving rapidly. Despite living abroad, the Vietnamese community in Thailand always look toward homeland, and we are proud to be part of the development of the country, which will benefit the next generation.”

During the 8-day visit, the delegation will visit Sen village, Kim Lien relic site (President Ho’s home town) and other sights of interests in Nghe An, Hanoi, Hung Yen and Ha Nam./.
