No Vietnamese harmed in car crash in Germany

As of April 9, Germany’s relevant agencies confirmed no Vietnamese citizen among victims in the car crash into a crowd in the western German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Following the incident, which took place in Münster city on April 7, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed representative bodies of Vietnam in Germany to work closely with local authorities for updated information on the case. Under the direction, if any Vietnamese citizen is reported among the victims, citizen protection will be promptly underway.

On April 7, a mini-bus was driven at high speed into a crowd in the downtown of Münster city, leaving three people dead and more than 30 others injured.

Local police said that the driver killed himself with a gun.

According to State Minister of Internal Affairs Herbert Reul, the driver is believed to be a German national, 49, who was not an extremist and had mental issue. However, a terrorist attack was not ruled out. Security has been tightened in Münster and other cities./.
