Head of Rossotrudnichestvo appreciates VUFO's supports for Russian Center of Science and Culture

VUFO - Vice President in-charge cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Don Tuan Phong, on October 9 held reception for Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), Eleanora Mitrofanova.

In the meeting, Phong briefed the guest on VUFO’s missions and fuctions, emphasizing its main tasks include strengthening mutual understanding, developing ties of solidarity and friendship, advocating and supporting economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the Vietnamese people and the people of other countries.

Vietnam has always treasured the long-standing intimate friendship with Russia and the support of Russia and the former USSR for Vietnam. The bilateral relations are also developing well in various fields, including politic, and culture.

Phong recalled the official visit to Russia by Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong last September which contributes greatly to deepening two countries' ties, highlighting that the Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association (VRFA), a member organization of VUFO was part of the delegation.

In the meeting, he also extended congratulation message to Head of Rossotrudichestvo on the 15th anniversary of the Russian Center of Science and Culture – the representative office of in Hanoi.

In return, Mitrofanova expressed her pleasure of visiting VUFO and delivered to VUFO best wishes from former Head of the Russian Center of Culture in foreign countries (Roszarubercentre – precursor to Rossotrudichestvo), Valentina Tereshkova.

Rossotrudichestvo’s mission is to consolidate the friendship between Russia and fellow countries through humanitarian cooperation and cultural exchange, she said, adding education is among the outstanding fields of exchange of Rossotrudichestvo. The institution works in routine collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (Minobrnauka) in recruitment and admission of foreign students, including those from Vietnam.

The Center is also active in working with and supporting VRFA local branches in Russia.

At the meeting, Mitrofanova also expressed her gratitude to VUFO for their 15-year support for the Russian Center of Science and Culture, voicing her hope that the support would be maintained in the future.

On behalf of the Russian Center of Science and Culture, Mitrofanova received VUFO’s Certificate of Commendation for contributions to the development of unity, friendship and people-to-people cooperation between Vietnam and Russia./.
