Hanoi’s belt road No.3 increases 10km/h speed limit

(VNF) - The Vietnam Road General Department has proposed the Hanoi city Department of Transport adjust the maximum speed for vehicles on belt road No.3 from 80km/h to 90km/h from March 1st.

The General Department also suggested that the city investigate and adjust traffic lines and signals for the entry and exit ramps of the road, meeting the current situation, accelerating the travel capacity and reducing traffic congestion.

Mr Nguyen Van Huyen, Head of the Vietnam Road General Department, said that the adjustment is part of Circular 91/2015/TT-BGTVT (replaces Circular 13/2009/TT-BGTVT) for regulations on speed and stopping distance for vehicles and specialized truck vehicles, which will go into force on March 1st, 2016.

Accordingly, on roads with at least two lanes of traffic each way and a median strip, private cars, passenger coaches under 30 seats (except bus), and heavy trucks under 3.5 tonnes can travel up to a 90km/h maximum speed.

The completed two phrases of Hanoi’s belt road No.3 opened to the public on October 21st, 2012, using Japanese ODA loan, stretching 10.2 km./.
