Da Nang proposes extending visa exemption for visitors from 11 nations

Da Nang has proposed extending the visa exemption policy for citizens from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russia, South Korea, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy to 21-30 days.

In addition, Da Nang has proposed extending the visa exemption policy for citizens from the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain to 5 years. The Da Nang Department of Tourism has proposed the government to offer unilateral visa exemption for visitor from 11 nations to meet their demand tourism development.

The sound tourism environment, high-quality services, and excellent promotion campaigns have helped Da Nang lure in an increasing number of tourists. Images of Da Nang have been spread around to both domestic and international tourists through promotion programmes, tourism fairs held in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and foreign countries, as well as the municipal portal and social networks.

Tourist maps in English as well as brochures in Korean and Japanese are available for foreigners while the free mobile app—Da Nang FantastiCity—was launched to provide travellers with a detailed schedule of events taking place in the city, tourist attractions, entertainment, cuisine, accommodation, and the places of public toilets.

Along with delivering a tourist code of conduct to local accommodations and tourist destinations, the municipal Department of Tourism has joined hands with localities to prevent local people from hassleing tourists into buying their products or services.

The department has increased promotion campaigns in key markets like Japan, South Korea, China, and Southeast Asia as well as potential sources like France, Germany, the UK, and India.

In 2017, Da Nang earned over VND19.4 trillion (US$853.96 million) in tourism revenue, an increase of 20.6% against 2016. About 6.6 million visitors came to Da Nang, up 19% over the previous year and 4.8% higher than the annual target. The figure included 4.3 million domestic tourists, up 11.3% year-on-year, Ngo Quang Vinh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, was quoted as saying.

Da Nang is striving to welcome 7.47 million visitors, gaining a tourism revenue of VND22.5 trillion (US$990 million), up 12% year-on-year. The city expects to attract around 2.7 million foreign and 4.77 million domestic tourists this year, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism./.
