Cultural and Culinary Festival marks both Vietnamese-Korea lunar New Year

South Korea Cultural and Culinary Festival featuring lots of exciting activities will take place at Ho Chi Minh City Labor Cultural Palace from January 18-20.

The event attracts more than 60 Vietnamese and Korean businesses providing a wide range of products at their stalls.

Gastronomers have a chance to experience the culinary and traditional culture of Vietnam and South Korea, especially the unique cultural identities of the lunar New Year of the two countries.

The festival is expected to contribute to exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries; deepen the strategic relationship and the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea; promote economic, commercial, tourist, and educational cooperation between the two sides.

2018 is considered as a successful year for tourism exchange between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

In the first 11 months of this year, it was estimated at 3.16 million Korean visitors to Vietnam, up 46.5 percent compared to the same period last year, becoming 2nd largest market behind China; 427,000 Vietnamese visitors to Korea, up 42.1 percent compared to last year.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, around 2.41 million South Korean visitors arrived in Vietnam in 2017.

Additionally, the South Korean government has launched new visa policies to Vietnamese professionals and people in major cities in last December to attract more travelers from Vietnam.

There were more than 60,000 MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourist arrivals travelling from Vietnam to Korea, making it to rank first among 32 markets in Korea in MICE tourism.
