Come to European Language Day to discover multilingualism

Learn your first words in new languages like Portuguese, Spanish, Swiss-German, Czech, Italian, French, Polish, English or German and meet friendly people, have fun while learning new languages during the 9th European Day of Languages on October 19 at the Goethe-Institut Hanoi.

The European Day of Languages was initiated by the Council of Europe and is now organized by the European Union National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC) every year.

This event is organized by the embassies of Finland, Italy, Spain, Portugal. Switzerland, Poland, France and Czechia, Wallonie-Bruxelles in Vietnam, the British Council and the Goethe-Institut in Vietnam.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience different cultures and languages through exciting activities with many amazing surprise gifts from the organizers.

This is a unique opportunity of the year for those who are interested in European languages and culture can meet and exchange information, such as Switzerland with 4 official languages packed into 41’285 sq km; Spanish is officially spoken in 20 countries on 3 continents; German language has three genders.

Currently, Spanish is the second language most spoken in the world with more than 570 million Spanish speakers and an annual growth of almost 4.5 million worldwide.

In many languages, nouns are either female or male. As if that wasn’t already enough- German goes even further: a noun can also be neuter. The gender of a word is determined purely by grammar. For example, „das Mädchen“ (the girl) is considered neuter, even though it refers to a female person./.
