Australian diplomat honored for contribution in Vietnam's transportation infrastructure development

(VNF) – The token of appreciation “For the Development of the Transportation Sector in Vietnam” was awarded to Australian Embassy’s first secretary, Andrew Shepherd on April 10.

The token, presented by the Ministry of Transportation, aimed to acknowledged Shepherd’s vast contribution to the cooperation in transportation between Australia and Vietnam, particularly in the construction of key  infrastructures including the My Thuan bridge, component project 1A under phase 1 of the Southern Coastal Corridor project, the Mekong River Delta Transport Infrastructure Development project, and the Cao Lanh Bridge, which will be put into use shortly.

“As first secretary of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, Shepherd’s contribution to the Vietnam-Australia ties in transportation was tremendous” said Vice Minister of Transportation, Nguyen Ngoc Dong, stressing that the token not only symbolizes the dedication of the Australian diplomat as an individual, but also to express the appreciation for the supports of the Embassy, the Government, the people and enterprises of Australia for Vietnam.

Shepherd, for his part, expressed his pleasure to receive the honorable merit at the end of his tenure.

The diplomat pledged to continue contributing to Vietnam’s development, regardless of what position he will holds in the future./.
