Ambassador: Vietnam,Turkmenistan should fully tap their huge potential for stronger cooperation

(VNF) - Vietnam and Turkmenistan should fully tap their huge potential for stronger cooperation in the future, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia and Turkmenistan, Ngo Duc Manh to the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Gulshat Mamedova.

The Vietnamese diplomat also took the occasion to express his gratitude to the people of Turkmenistan for their support for Vietnam during the country’s past struggles for independence.

Mamedova, for her part, voiced her hope that the Vietnam-Turkmenistan relationships will continue to thrive in the time to come.

In addition, the Turkmenistan’s top legislator emphasized both nations' long-standing friendship and the strong supports for each other at international arena.

Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh has been on a visit to Turkmenistan from April 26 - 29. Earlier, he joined a meeting with Turkmenistan Deputy Foreign Minister, Vepa Hajiyev, during which the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual concern, including preparations for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Turkmenistan President.

According to the Vietnamese Ambassador, Turkmenistan is rich in natural gas, while Vietnam is strong in industrial products and consumer goods. He also suggested both sides to need to step up bilateral cooperation in culture, tourism and sports to enhance mutual understanding.

Vietnam is to realize a host of activities to promote bilateral partnership with a fous on connecting businesses of both sides and encouraging Vietnamese firms to invest in Turkmenistan, affirmed the diplomat.

He furthermore noted the Vietnamese Embassy's commitment to reinforcing meetings and visits between two countries' representatives of ministries, sectors and agencies.

The diplomat also took the occasion to express his anticipation for the signing of more cooperation agreements between the two countries, including those on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders, and simplifying travel regulations between the two countries, thus facilitating people and businesses's meetings and exchanges.

During his stay, Ambassador Manh also 
visited a number of local businesses operating in fabric, carpet and confectioneries production and attended a round-table dialogue on the Vietnam-Turkmenistan economic, trade and investment cooperation./.
