50 VNU students receive Yamada scholarship

50 students of the Vietnam National University (VNU) recently received Yamada Scholarships, each  worths USD 200 (VND 5 million).

Yamada Scholarship Foundation was founded in 1989, with the aim of developing human resources for a peaceful world. The Chairman of the foundation is Osamitsu Yamada Yamada, Director of Tax - Accounting Osamitsu Yamada, president of the Association scientific Kanagawa, Japan.

The scholarship especially targets students who actively participate in scientific research and social activities.

Since its debut in 1997, the total value of scholarship provided by Yamada foundation for students of VNU is estimated at VND 4 billion, and the number of scholarship recipients is around 1,050.

According to Vice Head of the Department of Politics and Students Affairs (VNU), Nguyen Hong Hanh, this is the first time a scholarship programme is conducted using the online scholarships application app.

"This kind of application method helps us gain insight of the competition rate and transparency. At the same time, we can easily follow up with other kinds of scholarships, as well as the selection criteria of them”, said Pham Minh Hai, a student of the School of Law, VNU./.
